Catalyst — Brand identity, system & launch strategy · Arab startup ecosystem · 2026

Accelerate the reaction. Remain unchanged.

A catalyst accelerates a reaction without becoming part of it. The reaction is faster, cleaner, more complete — and the catalyst itself is exactly what it was. We did not treat that as a metaphor. We treated it as the specification.

Move — the field reacts to you, not the other way aroundTouch the field — it reacts to you, not the other way around

01 — The brief

Not a product launch.
A category entrance.

Catalyst is a B2B platform for the people who run startup programs — accelerators, incubators, DFI funds, government innovation arms — across Riyadh, Cairo, Dubai and Doha. The infrastructure they administer is world-class. The tools they administer it with are spreadsheets.

So the brief was never "introduce a product." It was to name a category before anyone else could defend it — and to enter language rather than a market.

The claim, in eight words

The operating system for entrepreneurship ecosystems.

Familiar metaphor, fresh application. Every surface in the system defends this one sentence. If a decision does not reinforce it, the decision does not ship.
  1. 01

    Global-tier press, publishing simultaneously.

The feed would be read next to BBC, Forbes and CairoScene coverage. That set the floor: every asset graded against the standard those outlets set — never the standard regional B2B SaaS sets.

  2. 02

Nobody was defending the category yet.

No competitor had claimed the operating-system frame. The brand that articulates a category first gets to write the criteria everyone else is later measured against.

  3. 03

The audience was curious, not yet skeptical.

Curiosity is the rarest thing in B2B. It exists for a new name for roughly one month. The system had to be finished enough to spend it.

02 — The name

The chemistry is
the concept.

A catalyst accelerates a reaction without being consumed by it. That is the most accurate available description of what this product does for the people who use it: it does not replace the program, the mentors, or the methodology. It makes all of them faster.

The name is not a metaphor dressed as a name. It is a technical description of the product's function — direct, self-explanatory in English, phonetically clean in both Gulf Arabic and Egyptian dialect. It travels.

Catalyst

The nucleus sits inside the name before it ever sits inside the mark. a — a substance that increases the rate of a reaction without itself undergoing permanent change.

03 — The Cycle Mark

Seven C-forms.

Each C is a single catalytic event. Together they form a closed loop — when one completes, another begins. There is no isolated shape in the system and no start to the cycle.

One violet nucleus.

The centre is the activation point — the only coloured element in the entire mark. The C-forms represent the work. The nucleus represents the force that drives it.

The gaps are not spacing.

The negative space between the C-forms is the pause where one reaction completes and the next begins. It is drawn, not left over.

And it never turns.

The rotational symmetry is fixed. A rotating Cycle Mark reads as unstable — the exact opposite of the catalyst principle. The cycle is in the geometry, never in the animation.

04 — The rejection filter

A system is defined by
what it refuses.

Most guidelines describe what a brand may do. The interesting half is the other one. Every system we build carries an explicit list of the things that break it — so the brand survives contact with people who were not in the room when it was made.

  • Rotating the mark, for any reason.
  • Recolouring the nucleus to match a campaign.
  • Changing the C-form count.
  • Gradients, shadows or glow on any element.
  • Placing the mark inside a container — it contains itself.
  • Cropping it, or using part of it as a graphic device.
  • Mixing Inter and Space Grotesk in the same line.
  • Setting Space Grotesk below 18px, where it goes generic.
  • Body copy in ALL CAPS.
  • Inter Bold for anything longer than a single word.
  • System fallbacks. If the faces cannot load, that is a bug to file.
  • Justified body text. Left-aligned, always.
  • Pure black. It has no blue undertone and fights the violet.
  • Pure white. It is cooler than Aura and visibly disconnects.
  • A second brand accent. Violet is the only one.
  • Semantic colours — success, warning, error — used in brand work.
  • Gradients between any two system values.
  • Violet as a full-page background. It is an accent, not a field.

05 — Colour

Four values.
One accent. Closed.

Every surface, every pixel, every printed mark starts from one of four values. Nothing enters for variety. Because Catalyst is a product as well as a brand, the system has to hold as an identity, as a UI token set, and as signal meaning in an interface state — without ever letting those three layers contaminate each other.

Void#111827All text. The logo C-forms. Dark product surfaces. A cool near-black with blue undertones that sits harmonically with the violet.
Violet#7C3AEDThe activation colour. Logo nucleus. Primary actions. Key data highlights. The only accent in the brand system.
Aura#F8F7FFThe primary field. A white carrying a trace of violet, so the accent reads as native to the space rather than applied to it.
Charcoal#374151Body copy. Softer than Void, more legible at length, still cool enough to harmonise with violet.

06 — Typography

Two faces.
One job each.

Inter handles everything a user reads to get information. Space Grotesk handles everything a user reads to feel the brand. Neither is interchangeable with the other, and neither may be substituted with a system fallback. The contrast between them is the typographic voice: Inter is neutral and operational, Space Grotesk is assertive and distinctive.

Display · Space Grotesk Bold

Activate the reaction.

H1 · Space Grotesk SemiBold

Built for program managers.

H2 · Space Grotesk Medium

Cohort lifecycle, end to end.

Body · Inter Regular

Catalyst manages applications, mentor matching, cohort tracking, investor readiness and alumni networks in a single operating environment built for the Arab world.

07 — The 50/50 rule

Whitespace is the loudest part of every layout.

Every Catalyst composition leaves at least half its surface unoccupied. Not minimalism as a style — clarity as an argument. Restraint reads as confidence; maximalism reads as need. This page obeys the rule it is describing.

08 — The launch

The argument,
in six beats.

The single most important asset of the launch — one carousel, posted once, built to be sent rather than seen. Not a feature pitch: a category claim structured as an editorial argument. Slides two to five carry no logo. The mark is a frame, not a watermark.

Slide one: The world runs on operating systems. Ecosystems still run on spreadsheets.
Slide two: Every layer of the modern economy moved to an operating system. The ecosystem layer is the last one still running on a sheet.
Slide three: Logistics moved. Finance moved. Healthcare moved. Programs are still on Google Sheets.
Slide four: You don't have a startup problem. You have a coordination problem.
Slide five: Catalyst is the operating system for entrepreneurship ecosystems.
Slide six: the Cycle Mark, centred alone.
  1. HookStop the scroll inside one second.
  2. SetupState the indictment plainly.
  3. EvidenceProof by pattern. No invented statistics.
  4. ImplicationThe reframe — the line they screenshot.
  5. ResolutionThe position. The eight-word claim, rendered.
  6. MarkThe exit beat. 50/50 made visceral.
01 / 06

The test was never whether a buyer would read it. It was whether an ecosystem voice would forward it — because sharing it made them look smart.

09 — Voice

It speaks as precisely
as it looks.

Direct, not blunt.
The minimum words necessary — which is not the same as the fewest. A long sentence that carries full weight is direct. A short one that hedges is not.
Specific, not descriptive.
When Catalyst describes a feature it names what it does and who it is for. It does not say "powerful", "seamless" or "innovative".
Operator-grade, not corporate.
It sounds like a senior program manager giving another program manager a straight answer.
Words the brand does not own

powerful seamless innovative cutting-edge game-changing revolutionary empower leverage

Leverage is a finance term — it is not a workflow. Use, apply, run. And the brand never writes "we're excited to announce": if it has something worth saying, it says it.

10 — In the world

Where the system
meets a surface.

The Cycle Mark machined as a silver lapel badge with a faceted violet nucleus, worn on a navy suit.
The badge. The mark machined in silver with a faceted violet nucleus — the identity as an object, for the rooms where this brand actually gets decided: ministries, DFI boards, investor committees.
Catalyst business cards — a Void-black card with the violet nucleus mark, and an Aura-white card.
Cards. Void on one side, Aura on the other. The system's two fields, in the hand.
Catalyst stationery system — folder, letterhead, lanyard badge and cards in violet, Aura and Void.
Stationery. Violet held to its role — an accent that activates the surface, never floods it.

The reaction moves faster.
The catalyst is unchanged.
