National Bank of Egypt — Social Impact Report

A fingerprint
of a nation.

How Egypt's largest bank measured itself — not in trillions, but in lives.

Scroll↓

The institution

1898Founded — Egypt's first bank, and its oldest.
The largestbank in Egypt — by assets, deposits, branches and people.
0customers. A bank, in its own words, for all Egyptians.
But scale is not impact.
Impact is who you reach.

01 The challenge

A trillion-pound conscience, in hundreds of pages no one could feel.

NBE handed us a brief unlike any in the region — the first social impact report by any bank in the MENA region, with no template to follow. Hundreds of pages of policy, governance and figures; numbers so large they turned abstract; one document that had to speak to a board, a regulator and a citizen at once.

02 The approach

Read the whole brief. Then design empathy into the data.

01

We absorbed the entire brief — every chapter, framework and figure — and mapped its four pillars before drawing a single page.

02

We built one repeatable cover system — a photograph, a field of colour, a numeral — to pace a long document so a reader never lost their place.

03

And we turned policy into pictures — data visualisation that gave every billion a human consequence: a child treated, a family relieved, a job created.

The idea

We gave the institution a human face. Literally.

A fingerprint is the most individual mark there is. Built from thousands of Egyptian faces, it became the cover — a bank's social impact, returned to the scale of a single life.

The chairman's word

It gives me great pleasure to present the first social impact report released by a banking institution in the MENA region.

The system

One language.
Nine chapters.

A repeatable cover device — one photograph, one field of colour, one numeral — paced a dense document so a reader never lost their place. Each chapter took its own colour.
